Current Professional Work
Clinical Practice
I maintain a private practice in Los Angeles, California where I treat individuals and couples via weekly psychotherapy sessions. I also provide therapy for out-of-town patients. In these cases, the entire course of treatment is generally conducted via 3-4 hour blocks on a monthly or semi-regular basis.
My work with patients is active and focused. The therapy is based on full collaboration between myself and my patients. My goal is to remove psychiatric symptoms and to help my patients regain or achieve their highest level of functioning as quickly as possible. Why waste any more time? Life is precious.
Teaching
Based on my love of teaching, I concentrate on supervising, lecturing and conducting clinical training groups for mental health professionals interested in learning Attachment-based Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy. In addition, I teach a yearlong course on AB-ISTDP for the psychiatry residents at UCLA.
Education and Professional Training
I obtained my undergraduate
degree from the University of California at Berkeley where I was a University
Merit Scholar and a recipient of a Presidential Undergraduate Fellowship. I
subsequently earned a Masters degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from
the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). My post-degree professional
training includes 18 years of clinical experience. I have been practicing
ISTDP since l998. I received training in many accelerated models of individual
and couples psychotherapy under the guidance of Drs. Josette ten Have-de
Labije, Robert Neborsky, Pat Ogden, Diana Fosha, Marion Solomon and many other talented
and esteemed colleagues and mentors. I studied Interpersonal Neurobiology and
Mindful Parenting in Dr. Daniel J. Siegel's advanced study group and seminars.
